I travel a lot for work to Southeast Asia, so I’m always aware of any strange or worrisome diseases that I might be exposed to. I probably haven’t been as careful as I should be about the nasty things you can catch on airplanes or in strange (to me) environments.
“Global Time Bomb”, while it has a bit of a dramatic title, contains excellent basic information about the emerging Swine Flu, but it also covers the other very real threats that are floating around the globe. I’m personally more worried about the antibiotic-resistant superbug (MRSA) that is also covered in this book. From reading this book it sounds like Swine Flu is survivable if you’re in decent health, but the superbug is nasty. It also covers bird flu and West Nile, but I’m not convinced that those are quite as big of a deal.
