This is an awesome little guy and a perfect addition to a plush microbe collection or just a gift for someone who just had the flu or anyone interested in infectious diseases. There isn’t much to say about these and anyone aware of them but this one is quite a nice all purpose little gift.

My 10 year old discovered these microbes at a natural history museum gift store and purchased the giant flu bug. She absolutely loves it, as do her friends! They are cute and gross and provide a fun way to teach kids about science. She has moved on to researching more information about microbes on her own.

Now she has asked for, and is getting, the petri-dish flu bugs and the Gigantic flu bug for her 11th birthday so she can have the “family”. She is *very* excited to get them – even more so than for the Wii game she asked for!

My son (who was born in 2003) has a bunch of giant microbes now. We have the flu, typhoid, polio, fat cells, bed bugs, a red blood cell and a white blood cell. These are fabulous, well constructed educational stuffies. They come with detailed explanations and fantastic pictures of the actual microbes. We’ve combined these with the Grossology book for a silly educational experience. We have a lot of fun with flue in particular pretending to sneeze and throwing it at each other.
